The Silverberg Prize recognizes the accomplishments of UCLA undergraduates in any social sciences field studying Japan.
The Silverberg Prize recognizes the accomplishments of UCLA undergraduates in any social sciences field studying Japan. Every other year, nominations for the award will be gathered by the Silverberg Prize Committee who will make the selection based on outstanding achievement in a course on Japanese history, politics, anthropology, geography, sociology, economics, public policy, or related field. The prize amount is $1000.
The Silverberg Prize is named after Professor Miriam Silverberg, a long time member of the Terasaki Center faculty advisory board and a leading expert on Japanese history.
Eligibility
All prize winners should be current UCLA undergraduates who have enrolled in a class on Japan at UCLA.
Award
The prize winner will be announced in conjunction with the Irene Hirano Inouye Award ceremony every other spring beginning in 2022 and will receive a cash award of $1000.
